I took a picture of my new shoes when Abby and I headed out for our walk on Saturday. Aren't they an awesome green? I just love it. They feel so springy to me. I kept the camera out as we walked just in case we found other signs of Spring.

Doesn't look very Springy at first but if you pay attention you'll notice ....

... lots of new, fresh smells to track - maybe even someone with the barbeque out.

... many new side trails made by our small furry neighbours.

... pussy willows starting to show - they're hard to see but they're there.

... buds on the trees and a clear blue sky.

... and a bright, warming sun.

What are your first signs of spring?

I got new shoes yesterday. I took a picture of them but it was blurry so I'll have to try again later. They made holes in the back of my feet on the walk home so today I'm sporting band-aids - very stylish.

My African Violets are starting to bloom.

One of my goals this weekend is too move around some furniture and set up my new light garden. I need to start my seedlings next weekend - can't wait for home grown veggies!

My other goal is to paint my toe nails. I have some awesome sparkly pink polish all ready for this job.

I set up a spinning corner in our living room. It's so nice to sit in the sun (or just out of the sun) and play with wool. I'm working on some yarn that was my sister's birthday present a few years ago. So far she's got one skein.

We had toast made with cheese bread for breakfast today. It's amazingly good but we always run out of bread too quickly.

I also had a little bit of this yogurt - Mmmmmm.

I have to go to the bottle depot this afternoon and I'm dreading it. It's always so loud and busy but if I don't get rid of things soon they will start jumping out at me when I open the pantry. The milk jugs are especially bad (even when you squish them).

I think I might reward myself with a little sewing time. I have some ideas for a nice chunk of Kokka cotton I got a while ago.

I got my socks finished in time to wear them for the Equinox. They are super comfy. I wasn't sure how I'd like wearing the garter toe and heel but I didn't notice the bumps at all - just their awesome squashiness. I added an inch or so of pail 3x2 ribbing at the top of the sock. The pattern calls for you to just bind off after five inches of the pattern stitch but I like the way a bit of ribbing frames the pattern.

If you can cable without an extra needle this pattern goes really quickly. I found the second sock went even faster than the first one since I didn't have to keep checking and measuring to make sure it was the right size; I just counted to the same number of repeats.
