A Bed for Abby

When we decided to get a puppy there were things I was expecting: getting up and going outside at absurd hours and frigid temperatures, discovering whole categories of 'edibles' that I had never considered, pockets that smell like dog treats, less craft time, etc. It had not really occurred to me that a puppy would inspire large amounts of new sewing but I've finished another dog project and am planning more.

<img src="http://www.inapeanutshell.com/images/63/DSCN1538...

It's a cute little green place that displays their goodies on open cake trays like ornaments in a shop. They've only got one little table with two chairs but lots of delicious sweets and savouries. It's going to be a great place to stop by in the summer when we can eat outside. I got this apple hand-pie there when I went with Joyce for our afterno...

Peel and Gingerbread

My friend Katy has promised to try and procure a real German recipe for me but I am impatient and decided to experiment. I made these for breakfast this morning and they are so good. I added raisins, currents and peel to a gingerbread cake recipe I had, cooked it in muffin tins and added a glaze. They are not identic...

Something that isn't stalled

Just a pair of socks this time. I needed something to carry around with me because I discovered that Abby had chewed one end of the circular I was going to use for the Scaruffle; not recently either - it must have been ages ago and I never noticed until I was going to use it - you can sort of see the teeth marks if you look at the picture very closely (it&#...

They're a German gingerbread but since I can't read the German on the package I only know that because Joyce told me. They taste like gingerbread but with candied peel and some other dried fruit flavours mixed in (they must puree everything - there are no lumps). They have a v...

He also got a promise that as soon as I could get some batting it would become a proper quilt to keep in his office at home (which doubles as our spare room).

This quilt was as comfortable to make as it is to curl...

I went straight to the craft books and perused them all before settling on this one. It looked like it would be a good read, with useful...

Evangeline: Stalled

"She's playing quietly in the living room."

That's what I said to Rob when he asked where Abby was while we were making lunch yesterday (you have a feeling of foreboding already don't you). I was cooking eggs and I didn't look very carefully. Rob discovered what she was playing with when we sat down to eat. She ran into the kitchen with a piece of something in her mouth.

<img src="http://www.inapeanutshell.com/images/63/DSCN1328.jpg" alt="DSCN1328....

I went all out and got the expensive paint at Benjamin Moore. It's completely worth it. Not only does it cover really well, dry quickly and look gorgeous but it hardly smells ... at all ... even while you're painting.

I cleared most things out of my studio on Saturday ...

Rob helped me set everything up and transferred all my stuff from the mini (which I've been using for a little over two years).

This computer makes my desk look so different: it has a smaller footprint but a much bigger screen (I went all out and got the 24") and a li...

I already love hot water bottles but since I didn't want to give my good cover to Abby her bottle was wrapped in a towel until I could make a new one.

As the northern hemisphere heads into the coldest part of the year (we are already dip...
