I've been kind of delinquent in working on my Farmer's Wife squares but the nice thing about long term projects is that I don't really feel guilty about neglecting them a bit. I do have three more squares done however. I present number 10 "Bowtie", number 88 "Star of Hope", and number 6 "Big Dipper". It took me ages to choose the fabrics to use for Bowtie. I started out with a couple of greys and was trying to make the bicycle fabric go with them when it really didn't. Do you every put things down for a bit and then come back to them and find that the problem is now very obvious? This works for me all the time. When I came back to the Bowtie fabrics I realized that the bicycle one was where I needed to start and I had the other two picked out and everything cut fifteen minutes later.

Random good news: Ollie threw up a button today. She ate it yesterday evening and I spent most of the intervening time wondering how much it costs to have a button removed from your cat.

She tried to make up for it tonight by eating a pair of earrings but was foiled. She was more successful in unplugging and switching off the router. She also ran gleefully around the house with a stolen candy wrapper. Fred and Abby just lay around and watched.

At the moment Ollie is trying to eat my desk lamp and catch my cursor.

Is it Thursday already? Somehow this week has gone by faster than I expected. I uploaded pictures from my camera to my computer this evening and found things from last weekend.

1. Two more Farmer's Wife squares: #31 Evening Star and #61 Northern Lights. I think they both turned out well. The dark blue fabric in the Northern Lights Square is a favourite. I ordered it from Goodness when she had her Etsy shop in Japan; it has constellations and star clusters all over it.

2. I made four more little squares for Our (never-ending) Quilt. Joining the Farmer's Wife Quilt-a-long may be the best thing I've done towards finishing this project. If I keep feeling guilty about working on another handwork project when this one is still unfinished I could actually complete the quilt top in this lifetime.

3. Since it was nearly March I decided to get going on my Dessert of the Month cross stitch sampler. I decided to do February first. Mostly because it is closer to the centre line and therefore easier to make sure I get everything in the right place on my linen. So far it's looking pretty cute (and check out those wee scissors).

4. Rob downloaded an iPad game just for Ollie and Fred. When you hit the mouse it squeaks and changes direction.

I was cutting out pieces for this weekend's Farmer's Wife blocks and realized I'd never posted the ones I made last Saturday: #77 Seasons and #46 Hill & Valley. Once again I hand pieced them. Somehow, even though they will end up being a whole quilt, when I approach them one at a time like this it doesn't seem at all daunting to be doing them by hand. In fact it's kind of relaxing and gives me that nice feeling of connection to my foremothers (it's also way easier to do with a cat in your lap).

I really like the Seasons block. The patterned fabric in it is a particular favourite but I find something extremely pleasing about the block itself. I like the idea of doing an entire quilt of just this block. Here's a sneak peak at this week's blocks.
