Swing Set Booties

swingset_booties_3.jpg
Pattern: Swing-Set by A. Karen Alfke from Blue Moon Fiber Arts Rockin' Sock Club May/June 2010
Yarn: Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks that Rock Lightweight in "Sweet Pea"
Size: Booties
Yardage: about a quarter of the skein
Needles: 2.00 mm dpns

---

So cute!

I made these for a co-worker and his wife who were expecting last month and got them delivered just in time. They worked up really quickly and I just can't believe how cute they are. The seem kind of big for a new born to me but babies grow so quickly that's probably just as well. This pattern gives you lots of practice doing kitchener stitch - it shows up in the cuff and again at the toe of the sock.

Blog Backlog #3: Red Evangeline

Posted by Peanut in RedMittsKnitting

Pattern: Evangeline Mitts (that's a Ravelry link) by Michelle Szeghalmi-Shirley
Yarn: Cascade 220 in #2413 "Red"
Size: Elbow length
Yardage: 1 skein
Needles: 3.75 mm dpn

---

Errr ... I can't remember why these didn't get blogged. I finished them last winter but didn't wear them very much until I got a hand-me-down from my sister that had sleeves the perfect length (just past my elbows). After that I wore these pretty regularly and loved having them as an extra layer at the office. These pictures have been sitting in my "blog this" folder since February.

Blog Backlog Post #2: My Green Cowl

Posted by Peanut in WoolScarfKnitting

greencowl1.jpg
Pattern: Cashmere Cowl from The Purl Bee
Yarn: Malabrigo Lace
Size: To fit me
Yardage: about a third of the skein
Needles: 4.5 mm bamboo circular

---

This was birthday yarn and I spent quite a long time searching around for the perfect thing to knit with it. I settled on the Cashmere Cowl pattern because it was simple and something I could wear against my neck. I cast on 110 stitches and knit until my cowl measured 22 cm/ 8 1/2 inches tall (technically speaking - until I was sick of 1x1 rib) and cast off. Next time I might try to stick with it a little longer and knit the whole 13 inches that the pattern recommends in order to get some more of these lovely floppy folds.

There and Back Again

A tired puppy asleep on the couch at home.

We got home from camping yesterday afternoon. We were only out for one night but it still felt pretty good to be home, showered and sleeping in our own bed (without so many mosquitos buzzing around). We had a great time camping. The weather wasn't great so we altered our plans and the group of us headed out to my sister's in-law's cabin instead a campground. We still had to deal with a lot of bugs but when the rain came we were all glad of the roof over our heads.
