My Garden This Year

Posted by Peanut in HomeGarden

garden_1.jpg
We got a bunch of rain yesterday and my garden is happy. I realized that, though I've shared some pictures of things growing, I haven't really shared my garden here yet. It's almost all new this year. Last year I had two half-barrels of carrots and two very scraggly looking tomato plants that didn't really do much. This year, with a lot of help from my dad, I have four big boxes in the backyard, the two half-barrels of carrots on the front deck and two more half-barrels of tomatoes on the back deck where they seem to be much happier.

Random Image #15

I was trying to take a picture of the crabapple tree through the open window but my camera decided to focus on the mosquito screen instead. It's an interesting effect.

An Update on the Knitting

Posted by Peanut in SocksSock ClubKnittingBaby

knitting_update_2.jpg
I realized a little while ago that I would soon be receiving my sock club package for May/June and hadn't really done anything but swatching with the yarn from March/April. I still don't care for either of the patterns that came with the kit but it didn't seem appropriate to knit special yarn into a plain sock. I spent a bit of time on Ravelry hunting for a good pattern and eventually settled on the Leyburn socks (Actually the process went something like this: I'd be looking for something else, come across the Leyburn pattern, think "Ooooo, that's pretty", try to add it to my favourites, discover it was already there, and return to my original search. At some point I make the important connection that I needed a pattern for my sock yarn and I really liked this pattern. Sometimes I wish my brain would go a little faster.)
