Garden Curry

I made curry for dinner last night and it was awesome. It started in my garden and ended on the table and was super easy to make.

Heat one can of coconut milk and some curry paste (I used two tbsp of green curry paste and a little less than one tbsp of hot red curry paste - just to heat it up a bit - this part is really to taste) on the stove for about five minutes. Add chopped carrots and potatoes and cook for about ten minutes. Add shelled peas and chopped beans and cook another ten minutes or so (until the beans and potatoes are cooked but not so they are getting soggy). Turn off the heat and stir in some fresh, chopped tomatoes. Spoon over rice and eat.

The only vegg in this that wasn't from our garden was the potatoes but they'd been in the cupboard for a while and needed to be used up and I love potatoes in curry. Using veggies we've grown ourselves makes everything taste so good. The tomatoes were incredible - warm but not really cooked - they were little bursts of sweetness. The leftovers were even better as lunch today.

p.s. These beans are awesome. They're called "Purple Queen". They start out dark purple and turn green as you cook them. I've been waiting all summer to see it.

Rice Pudding

This is what I'm eating right now - well, I suppose technically this picture is from last week, but I am eating rice pudding from the same recipe in the same bowl with whipped cream and sugar cinnamon on top so I consider it close enough to not bother taking a new picture - it's so creamy and good. I like it best still warm but it's good cold too (and pretty awesome for breakfast).

Turkey Noodle

This is the turkey noodle soup we ate the other night and for some reason I'm having a lot of trouble writing about it. Maybe it's because it feels a bit like a cheater soup (in terms of something as traditional as turkey noodle after Christmas). It certainly was very easy but it was also so good.

Busy, Busy

Posted by Peanut in RecipeLifeHomeChristmas

This poor little blog. So behind. Fortunately I'm almost caught up on everything else. Last weekend arrived with the first of our Christmas activities and I woke up Monday morning and realized that I needed to get stuff into the mail now and it wasn't even finished yet! A busy week followed and I just never had enough slow time where I was awake enough to write.

But this morning is slow ... we've had coffee and I might even have a second cup, we're smelling brioche filled with pear jam cooking in the oven, it's warm (in a relative sense) outside and pretty, fluffy "ptarmigan feather" snow is falling, and I've got time and energy for sharing.
