It has been icky and grey here all weekend (though so far it hasn't rained today) and combined with the cool weather of the past week my fingers have been itching for wool. I'm still working on Rob's socks but wanted to get something else going. My first pick was the Hemlock Ring Blanket but I don't have the right needles so it will have to wait. While I was digging out the yarn for it though I found this purple stuff and remembered the slipper pattern it was intended for.
This is another one of those projects that I got the pattern and yarn for a long time ago when I was just learning to knit and then forgot about. I think I got the pattern while I was staying with my grandmother for reading break one year at school (which means I have had it for at least five years). I remember getting the yarn when I moved back here about four years ago - there wasn't a lot of colour choice and I couldn't find the right needles anywhere (this is before I knew how much I could find on the internet).
Fortunately I still like this colour and now have the right needles so when I was looking for something to do last night I cast on the first of these. It went really quickly and I finished it up this morning. It's going shrink up a lot when it's felted; right now it is so big that I put both my feet in it to keep them warm while I started the second one.
