Yarn: Cheery Tree Hill Possum Worsted in Ratta
Size: made across 96 stitches
Yardage: about half a skein
Needles: 3.75 mm bamboo circular (24")

I finally found this ball of yarn and got out some needles and cast it on.  It was a quick knit but I took my time because I didn't have another portable project going and made it up over a few days. I finished it on Sunday when Rob and I wanted to go for a walk and the weather was just right for this.

I'm trying to do about five things at once right now. We are leaving for another short trip tomorrow; this time it's all slow relaxed time so I'm planning to take a few projects with me and have been matching up patterns and yarns and needles and trying to pack everything neatly into ziploc bags. I'm also hoping to finish up the yellow dress I cut out a few months ago (chances are getting slimmer). Oh, and packing; I think I'll want some clothes on vacation.

Update: I'm finished packing and it's not even midnight yet. I've probably got too many clothes with me (we get back next Sunday) but it's actually less than the pile I started with. The yellow dress is still in pieces on my ironing board and I need to water all the plants and get rid of the garbage.

Update 2: I have decided not to try and finish the dress as I just realized how soon we have to get up again and I really want to get this posted so I can go to sleep. See you in a week or so.

I set up a photo studio (well, a tripod) in our kitchen yesterday and photographed my yarn stash for Ravelry. The sun was out and the light in our kitchen was lovely. I felt so important and professional using my tripod. The yarn was very well behaved. I would just plunk down a skein and the camera would focus and the sun would shine. It was so easy. I got 49 pictures of yarn from my stash (do I really have that much yarn? That doesn't even include the extra skeins!) and then I didn't have anything else to take pictures of ... but it had been so fun ... I couldn't just stop.

So I took a picture of my snack. I really like how incredibly purple beets are (I also really love the word purple, especially if you kind of draw it out and say it with a bit of an English accent).


And I took a picture of the roving I'd drafted out that morning. I'm trying to spin it as thinly as possible. It's quite challenging.


And I took a picture of all my little balls of leftover sock yarn that I save for darning socks ... along with the darning egg that they've never actually met before ... I have some socks that really need darning.


The yarn at the top is Cardigan by Suli Fibres. It's handspun and handyded and features wool, mohair, silk and sparkles. I got it a couple of years ago and I can't decide what to do with it - it's too pretty to use for anything that could turn out badly.

Rob gave me these stockings. All of last week was so grey and wet (except for Friday when we woke up to discover snow on the ground - pretty, but it's still snow in September) that I was getting quite depressed; these stockings are so bright and green that they banish greyness.  I smile every time I look at my feet.

I've been meaning to make some sort of holder for all my cool stockings (I don't collect the boring ones if I can help it). I'm so worried about them catching on things in my drawer. It needs to be something that will store them neatly but still let me see them all. I'm thinking of some sort of a roll - kind of like for knitting needles - with loops to hold the stockings in place. I'll have to do a bit of math and figure out how long it needs to be and how many stockings I can reasonable stuff into it.
