Did you have fun on Saturday? We certainly did. It was a day of pumpkin carving, nap delaying excitement, costuming and candy.
Maisie and I carved our pumpkin before lunch. She’d been excited about it all week and kept asking when we were going to put it out on the porch. I had her draw on it and used the lines she made as guidance for cutting a face. We decided to give our pumpkin a big lopsided grin. Just for fun I put a candle in right away and we admired the pumpkin while we ate lunch at the table.
Maisie wore the same costume as last year (wow ... she's so little in those pictures). It still fits nicely and since it’s lined with fleece it’s reasonably warm. I had everything ready to go for when she woke up from her nap. She went out trick-or-treating with Rob while I stayed home to take pictures and hand out candy (we had 187 kids this year!). She made a pretty cute little White Mage heading out the door with Daddy. I could see after a few houses that she was being carried. When they got home Rob said he’d asked if she wanted to go home when she started feeling cold and she said no, she wanted to get “all the candy”. By the time they got home they both had rosy red cheeks and Maisie’s bucket was stuffed to overflowing with all sorts of goodies. She picked a few to eat while we watched a movie and snuggled on the couch.
