It's finished! It fits! I still love this yarn!
I don't think I ever expected to be so excited about a plain, grey sweater but I am. I finished seaming up Rob's sweater yesterday morning and he wore it all day. It fits beautifully and I'm really proud of my sewing up. I've done mattress stitch before and think it is pretty cool (and so completely invisible) but joining cast-off edges to selvedges was new to me. I think the key to doing a good job was to stop when I was getting too tired or frustrated instead of pushing myself to get everything finished in one evening.
It turned out I didn't need the extra skeins I bought. I didn't even use the lighter weight yarn for the seaming because those cast-off-to-selvedge seems show on the outside and I didn't want them to look different than the knitting. I'm still glad I got the spare yarn though - it saved me worrying about having enough the whole time I was doing the knitting and I know they'll make their way into some other project later on so it's not as though they are going to waste.
Next up will be a couple of little sweaters for me. I've got some yarn to make either Whisper or Whispy (can't decide which version I like best) and then maybe Crocus with some more Quince and Co. yarn (Lark this time) if I can ever settle on what colour I want.
