The second page of 2003 is secured in my scrapbook. I'm really please with how this page turned out. I did a lot more planning before getting out papers and things and it made a huge difference.


I think my favourite section of this page is the bit for the Dragonfly Walk: I used one of my photos for the walk as my background by printing it off onto some heavy weight paper. I used my corner rounder for a bunch of pictures on this page. I love the way it makes the pictures frame themselves without me having to add anything.

I finally made up a binder for my sock club patterns. I actually spent quite a lot of time thinking about how to decorate my binder but in the end I decided to keep it simple and just use the bumper sticker that came with the first shipment. I chose a black card stock binder and put the sticker on so the "rockin' sock club" part of the URL would show on the spine.


I like the minimalist look of my binder. It seems kind of fun to have a plain container full of so much colour. I might put my mini-skeins in with the patterns - hooked on the binder rings - I'm not decided yet; I think they might get dusty. I'm looking forward to filling out all my charts and worksheets now that I can actually find them.


I think the next shipment will be going out in a couple of weeks. I can't wait to see what colours arrive this time.

2010: Week 18


The first flowers of the year. I know this looks like a flower head sitting on the ground but I checked and it really was attached. After I took pictures of this one I saw them all along the causeway by the museum.

A sure sign of summer - our power was out for about twenty minutes.


Abby and I found another sign of spring while out for a walk.


The marinade for a great shrimp dish from the current Martha Stewart Living: garlic, jalapeno and olive oil.


Rob spent the weekend working with his dad to bridge our side and back decks together. We can now get to the back of the house without having to walk down some stairs, across four feet of gravel and up more stairs. Barbequing is much easier (and doesn't necessarily involve shoes).

2010: Week 19


You saw this picture already but I liked it so much I decided to include it here too. These are my carrot barrels from last summer. Just before it snowed I was thinking about how long it would be until I'd be able to plant this year's carrots and hoping that it wouldn't be too much longer. Mother Nature has quite the sense of humour.


Tuesday was a much more springy day. The sight of sunshine on water - even when it is only around the edges of the lake - is very uplifting.

This is a muskrat in the lake near our house. It's only the second time I've seen one while walking Abby around the trail. I almost missed him but we'd stopped to look at the ducks near the ice.

Our squirrel feeder has been a busy place the last couple of weeks with several regular visitors.


My sister dropped by on Sunday afternoon to drop off the cookie tin* full of her special mint-chocolate chip cookies. They are so good - and especially cute with the coloured sprinkles.

*This tin has been passed back and forth between our households for the past few years. There is always something yummy inside when you drop it off.
